George Williamson, AICP, Principal Planner

George Williamson, AICP, Principal PlannerGeorge Williamson AICP, is Principal Planner and owner of Planwest Partners. Prior to starting Planwest in 1997, George worked as a public agency and private-sector planner for more than twenty years in California, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona. He is a twenty-year member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). His education includes a Master’s Degree in City Planning (1988) from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor of Science with a Certificate in Urban Studies (1976) from Portland State University, Portland, Oregon. He is active in community activities and is a past President of the Arcata Downtown Business Community-Arcata Main Street Board of Directors.

In addition to being a certified planner, George is a trained facilitator. His most recent training includes the completion of the 2004 Cascadia Leadership Program’s Advanced Meeting Mastery workshop conducted by Mary Gelinas and Roger James. George has facilitated numerous community and stakeholder meetings in Humboldt County. He serves as the contract Planner for the cities of Ferndale, Rio Dell, and Point Arena, California.

George has served as Principal Planner for the following projects: four of the last five Regional Transportation Plans for the Humboldt County Association of Governments; the 2007 Regional Transportation Plan and the 2007 Bicycle Facilities Plan for the Del Norte Local Transportation Commission; and the Humboldt County Energy Element for the Redwood Coast Energy Authority. He is currently working on the City of Rio Dell General Plan Amendment and the Samoa Town Master Plan MEIR for the County of Humboldt.
