Recreational Planning
Planwest's planning approach emphasizes the identification of recreation, resources and values. A detailed analysis, based on these combined findings, can reveal untapped opportunities and assets that can be converted to recreational features and facilities. We work to establish a community's distinct advantages by providing:
- An objective assessment of planning goals
- An inventory of all assets, relevant to recreational planning
- A short list of features that would be most attractive to recreational users
- A customized strategy to fund and develop recreational facilities
- An allocation of the resources that will meet growing demands
- A community-specific recreation niche
Planwest also assists in defining areas that qualify for both active and passive recreation by determining what types of public investment would be most effective, and planning for future uses that would generate both public and private revenues. Public revenues help offset recreation investments. We identify locations for new housing that are within reach of target income groups, and examine existing at-risk recreation facilities.
